Founder Friday with Sumit and Garima Sahdev of Jombone

Jombone, co-founded by Sumit and Garima Sahdev, is a digital staffing platform designed for businesses seeking to hire industrial blue-collar workers. Operating as a SaaS-enabled marketplace solution, Jombone streamlines the complete hiring process by offering pre-screened candidates through community networks. It simplifies recruitment, hiring workflows, workforce scheduling, timesheets, payroll, digital payments, and reporting through its unified platform.

We caught up with Sumit and Garima to hear what’s new for Jombone, what’s coming up next, insights into what’s happening in the industry, and advice they would give to their past selves and up-and-coming founders.

What’s New

Jombone is thrilled to share its ongoing journey of sustainable growth and success. Committed and focused on innovation, the team has achieved significant milestones that have solidified their position as a premier staffing platform and service provider.

The Jombone team is celebrating their continued growth trajectory, marked by consistent expansion and robust positive cash flows. Currently, Jombone proudly serves a diverse clientele spanning from British Columbia to Nova Scotia, and their reach also extends to clients in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Quebec—showcasing their dedication to providing tailored solutions nationwide.

They have also been busy actively engaging in the commercialization of the platform, gearing up for mass utilization. Regular updates to the platform reflect Jombone’s dedication to enhancing the product-market fit, ensuring seamless alignment with the evolving needs of their clientele.

2023 has been a tremendous year of growth as Jombone spearheads the digital transformation of the staffing industry! If all of those updates didn’t seem to make them busy enough, keep your eyes peeled as the team is preparing to introduce automatic billing and invoicing, on-demand payroll, and digital payments as part of our comprehensive service offering before the end of the year.

What’s Next

Building on their reputation as an industry challenger, Sumit, Garima, and the team are thrilled to announce the commercial launch of their vertical Software as a Service (SaaS) enabled marketplace offering, tailored to meet the unique needs of Enterprises, Small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and Staffing agencies.

The full version of their SaaS offering will be live in January 2024.

Additionally, Jombone is excited to share its ongoing product launch efforts in California, United States.

What’s Going On in the Industry

In light of rising inflation and prevailing macroeconomic factors (disrupted supply chains & wars), businesses are actively seeking cost-effective alternatives that simultaneously meet client demands. Mid-market and enterprise clients are prioritizing digital transformation to mitigate compliance and regulatory risks effectively.

Conversely, SMBs are focused on cost-saving solutions to redirect funds towards sustainability and strategic growth investments. The ever-evolving workforce landscape, driven by the integration of Gen Z, emphasizes the significance of social media and mobility.

This transformative workforce's shifting expectations are profoundly impacting the industry. Factors such as immigration, government investments in near-shore and onshore manufacturing, and the rapid evolution of the housing and construction sector are compelling businesses to reassess their workforce strategies.

The ongoing pursuit of digital technologies is shaping unique growth strategies across industries, promising intriguing economic developments  in the coming years.

Advice to Your Past Self & Other Founders

“Be ready to continuously improve and adapt,” Sumit says. “Believe in yourself and trust in your slow, disciplined progress.”

Embarking on any journey of professional growth requires a commitment to continuous improvement and adaptability. The road to achievement is a marathon, not a sprint, and perseverance is essential for every step along the way.

During sprints where your head is down and focused on hard work, remember to look up to celebrate the small and intentional accomplishments—you’ve likely come much farther than you realize!

Additionally, be proactive in collecting data to inform your decisions and actions. Don't hesitate to seek help and support, especially in areas you may not be specialized in. It takes a bright and diverse team to build something innovative, and collaboration and learning from others will propel you forward.

The path to success isn't a straight line. The ability to evolve, adapt, and sometimes get redirected from trusted mentors and experts are essential to navigate the winding road.
